Logan’s Lament: an Indian Identity Crisis by Dorene Soiret

On October 12, 2024, I had the great honor of speaking at the commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the Treaty of Camp Charlotte held at Ohio Christian University, Circleville, Ohio. I was invited to speak by the Sons of the American Revolution as a direct descendant of Chief Cornstalk. Attending with me were several Cornstalk family members who currently reside in Ohio and West Virginia, along with direct descendants of Chief Silverheels (Chief Cornstalk’s brother) who made the long trek with me to attend this day’s important event. Of course, I spoke about my seventh great grandfather, the Battle of Point Pleasant and the Treaty of Camp Charlotte; but I also took this opportunity to present the results of my many years of research and evidence regarding Chief Logan, the famous author of Logan’s Lament and his true identity.
